How You Can Help

BEACON has discovered a needed niche in the Belleville area through our Furniture Ministry. Volunteers pick up usable furniture from those moving out of the area, those getting new furniture, and from families cleaning out households of loved ones. Giving furniture to BEACON takes the hassle out of transporting it yourself, provides an in-kind charitable tax deduction, and leaves you with the knowledge that someone in need will receive free furniture. We prefer you deliver or pick up furniture yourself due to the limited number of volunteers, but if you are unable to haul furniture we can place you on a waiting list for pick up or delivery.

Those who receive the furniture may be a child who has slept on the floor and now has a bed a mattress, a family who lost everything in a fire, an individual who recently moved into the area without a job, or a senior citizen needing a reclining chair to relieve aches and pains.

All furniture is picked up and delivered without fee, though volunteers are needed to help haul furniture and sort items in the furniture warehouse located at 923 West A Street, Belleville, on Saturdays from 9:00 to 11:00 or by appointment.

For information on how to volunteer or donate furniture, call 618-397-6030.
